Privacy Policy

Overview

This policy explains how NetKit, an app for iPhone and iPad made by Jake Haas, handles your information. The short version: NetKit does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information.

Information I collect

None. NetKit has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. I do not receive any personal information about you or how you use the app.

NetKit runs its diagnostics on your device, against the targets you enter. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no server of mine behind the app. Your run history, saved hosts, and saved devices live only on your device, and deleting the app deletes them. You can clear history at any time in Settings.

Because NetKit is a network tool, some tools make network requests by design — but only ones you initiate, and only to where you point them. When you ping a host, look up a domain, scan ports, trace a route, inspect a certificate, or send an HTTP request, the app contacts exactly the target you typed, straight from your device. DNS and Reverse DNS go to the resolver you choose (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, or your own).

A few tools reach fixed third-party services, each disclosed in the app: Diagnose pings Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 and loads apple.com to find where a connection breaks; Whois queries the public rdap.org registry service; Public IP & Geo asks a public IP-lookup service (such as ipwho.is) for your own address; and Throughput Test transfers throwaway data against Cloudflare's speed endpoint. These services necessarily see the request in order to answer it, but NetKit sends no identifiers and keeps nothing beyond what it shows you. The optional Public IP widget uses the same lookup on the same terms.

NetKit asks for Local Network permission the first time you use a tool that reaches your own network (ping to a local address, port scan, LAN discovery, Wake-on-LAN). iOS requires that prompt; the access stays on your device and nothing about your network is sent to me.

Third-party services

NetKit does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and it does not share data with anyone — there is nothing to share.

Any purchase — the app itself or anything inside it — is handled by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment under Apple's own privacy policy; I never receive your payment details.

Children's privacy

NetKit does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13 — because it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, I will post the new version on this page and update the date shown above.
